Mission and Values

Our Mission

  • to widely promote awareness and appreciation of the rich cultural heritage of Peru through art, music and cuisine.

Our Values

  • Empowerment: We take direct action in cultivating our volunteers with the tools and the historical context and understanding needed to spread the love for Perú.

  • Inclusiveness: We are a community that welcomes all. We embrace one another's differences and we break down barriers that would exclude anyone from being meaningfully engaged in our world.

  • Passion: We cherish about what we do, because we know the diversity of our culture matters.

  • Collaboration: Teamwork is fundamental to our success.

  • Integrity: We are fair, honest and respectful. We maintain open and transparent decision-making in all aspects of our work.

In 2003 Monique Pineda, President of Asociacion de Instituciones Peruanas de USA y Canada (AIPEUC), had a vision to form a cultural association dedicated to share Peruvian heritage in its plenitude. She asked Elizabeth Anderson to help on this endeavor. One of the primary goals was to garner attention for the arts and tradition maintained by Peruvian migrants residing in the continental United States and Canada, so local communities could then enjoy them.

On January 22, 2003, Asociacion Peruana Internacional de Cultura (APIC), or in English International Peruvian Association of Arts and Culture (IPAAC) was established as a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization.

Founding members: Elizabeth Anderson, Carlos Corcuera, Ada Kraft, Hernando Mares, Delicia Mares, Conchita Morchon, Galo y Marina Nunez, Aquiles Palomino PhD., Monique Pineda, Alberto Pizarro, Julie Reyes, Leo Roca, Adriana Roca, Aida Roldan, Luis Jose Sanchez, Elena Shinnick, Oscar Serron, Sharon Serron, Luz Watts PhD.

Cultural Events

Each year APIC sponsors a beautiful show of classical Peruvian music and dance by well known Peruvian Performers of Andean, Creole, and Afro-Peruvian groups.

PROCEEDS OF EVENTS: APIC is committed to help communities affected by the recent disastrous flooding in Peru. Basic health supplies, vaccinations and mosquito repellent is needed to guard against widely spread disease.  APIC is also a proud contributor for the construction of schools in the rural areas of Quinambamba, Arequipa and Pisco. These projects have been achieved through collaborative partnerships in Peru and the United States, other non-profit organizations and local leaders. As a result, many children are able to attend school in their local communities.
