How we accomplish this

Cultural Events

We celebrate the diverse regions of Peru through Cultural Festivals that pays tribute to each region's dance, music, art and traditions. By sharing these customs, we are able to provide cultural insights to the American community.

Since its inception, APIC has promoted cultural inclusion. Each region is unique in the manner in which it blends its Andean indigenous roots with Spanish, African, European, Japanese and Chinese ancestries.

Some of APIC's goals are to provide relief efforts for the poor, distressed, and underserved in various regions of Peru; encourage volunteer participation; promote social interaction between Peruvian Americans and those interested in Peruvian heritage and culture; and to advocate Peruvian artistic values and culture.

Food Tasting Events - Sabor a Peru

APIC celebrates the fine cuisine of Peru with its popular Sabor a Peru event. This food tasting event provides opportunities to flavor the delicacies that have made Peru's cuisine famous. Celebrity Chefs come together to demonstrate their art of cooking with their unique blends of aromas, ingredients and flavors.

Fusion Cuisine

Peruvian cuisine is truly a delightful fusion of many flavors due to the influences of different cultures. From it's past, Peru has inherited ancient indigenous and Inka delicacies which have fused with influences from Europe, Asia, Africa and the Americas.

Variation of legumes, corn and vegetables

Peru's variety of legumes, corn and vegetable products is a Chef's paradise. It's cuisine is known to be one of the best in the world as it blends native ingredients with the rich diversity found in climate variations.  Many traditional foods—such as Quinoa, kiwicha, chili peppers, and several roots have been re-discovered in recent decades. Quinoa, an ancient food staple is now sold in modern markets as a Super-Food because of its scientifically proven high nutritional value.

Ingredients from diverse regions

Peru enjoys everything from the desert, to the highlands, to the coasts and Amazon river.  It is blessed with an abundant ocean that brings high quality fish products to its tables. Each of Peru's regions cultivate its natural resources, with an array of dishes.
